Singapore Changi RDV event

On 2 August the Simpson Marine Team organized a rendezvous that drew over 25 owners and friends aboard 6 boats. Ranging from a large RIB up to a Beneteau Oceanis 50, the diverse group of boats, and their crews, gathered for a day on the water.

We enjoyed a trip out to Lazarus Island for an afternoon swim. There was great weather while our boats rafted up and the group had terrific fun enjoying the warm water and while they made some new friends and reacquainted with old ones.

After working up big appetites enjoying our time on the water the boats cruised in convoy over to Changi Sailing Club where we all enjoyed a BBQ and buffet spread. With a bit of help from the clubs chefs we slowly recovered from our exertions of the day.

Everyone agreed the rendezvous had met the goal for us to all share our experience and passion for yachting among a new group of friends.

Simpson Marine Runs Beneteau Sailing Course in China

Hands on course shows new sailors the ropes.

Long time Beneteau Yacht dealer, Simpson Marine chose Longcheer Yacht Club in Shenzhen as the venue to present an exciting class to guests interested in learning about yachting. The dealer teamed with the world’s largest boat builder to provide an introductory sailing course. Over 20 potential sailors gathered and were attended to by several of the dealer’s professional staff of sailors.

The training was divided in two sections. The morning lesson was presented by Richard Allen, Beneteau Brand Manager. Richard covered basic theory of sailing, nautical terminology, and an introduction to the Beneteau line of yachts. He was joined in by other company staff and by Duan Fei, a local customer and sailing enthusiast.

After lunch, the afternoon session allowed students to get hands-on involvement with the thrill of sailing on beautiful Daya Bay. Both a Beneteau First 40.7 and an Oceanis 47 were supplied and the class gained real world experience of teamwork and their newfound knowledge in yachting on these big boats. It was a great first-time experience and everyone enjoyed the day.

A chined hull, twin helm stations, vertical bow and the possibility to opt for a beachable lifting keel version complement a highly seductive interior atmosphere by Nauta Design.

The daysailor features a massive interior space for socializing, an uncluttered cockpit and a minimalist galley. This vessel boast an attractive price for new clients who want to sail fast for short periods and with minimum constraints.

The most adaptable version of the Oceanis 35 is the Weekender. Inside the owner configures the layout according to his desires. The owner benefits over the long term with dedicated after sales service and packs that are available from Spare Parts post purchase.

The Cruiser is available in a two or three cabin version and is equipped with numerous packs. It is a fine example of the traditional concept. The cabins are segregated allowing guests private areas to enjoy some quiet time. The large linear galley opposite the saloon accommodates up to six people.

Yachting Freedom Since 1984 – Simpson Marine Celebrates 30th Anniversary with Shenzhen Gala

On August 15, 2014 Simpson Marine held its “30th Anniversary Gala Dinner; Celebrating Yachting Freedom since 1984” at the Shenzhen Ritz-Carlton. Founder Mike Simpson, and his crew in Shenzhen invited more than 180 guests, including many yacht owners from the region, shipyard representatives, Marina Club partners, and local media to share the joy in celebrating 30 years of establishment in Asia.

Guests enjoyed watching a video that reviewed the company’s three decades of development, from the first yachts Mike Simpson sold in his small Hong Kong office, to today’s growth across seven countries to become Asia’s largest yacht dealer.

Founder Mike Simpson then reviewed the great changes in China’s yacht industry, “20 years ago at China’s first boat show, someone asked me, ‘What is a yacht?’ And now, so many have begun to enjoy this new yachtinglifestyle.”

The dinner included many yacht owners and others with key relationships to Simpson Marine plus yacht club leaders, business partners, and representatives from the media. Like Mike Simpson and his company they are all passionate about life on the water. Together with Simpson Marine all were there to promote the development of the marine lifestyle in China. “You are the first group of people in China to really experience the yachting lifestyle, and to understand the fun of sailing with your families.” Mike also thanked the guests for giving their trust and support to Simpson Marine over the years. He also gave recognition to all clubs and facilities that support our industry, “This development has been made possible by the rapid growth of marinas all over China…. and all the yacht clubs and marinas that have made us feel at home; and to the China Cup. They are all doing so much to help build interest in our lifestyle.”

To open the banquet guests enjoyed food and wine accompanied by wonderful live jazz, and a jewelry show from Aster Ma. The entertainment set an enthusiastic atmosphere for the venue. The prizes for the Lucky Draw included rooms in the Ritz-Carlton, an exquisite luxury yacht model, and other gifts.

After the meal the entire Simpson Marine team came forward to cut the 30th anniversary cake, which was topped with a confectionary model of a sailboat. Everyone joined in to congratulate Mike and his team on their 30 years of accomplishments here in Asia.

CNB Shipyard in Bordeaux Receives Top Level Chinese Delegation

The leading builder of custom and semi-custom yachts in Europe shows group of Chinese businessmen how CNB does it in Europe.

As part of the visit to France by Chinese President Xi Jinping the Bordeaux shipyard CNB entertained a visit by a delegation of Chinese business leader on March 24. CNB was one of only two companies selected to be granted the privilege of receiving the group. The other was Dassault Aviation.

The group was made up of 69 businessmen for several sectors, and each employs from 200 up to 10,000 persons in their companies. They enjoyed their discovery of CNB and where impressed by the extant of the factory and by its organization.

The Chinese delegation were accompanied by Thomas Gailly and Olivier Lafourcade, who are respectively responsible for semi -custom and one-off of CNB yachts, and Alexander Dauberville from CNB marketing department.

The new Azimut 50 – a sense of space

The designers of the new Azimut 50 have drawn inspiration from the stylish looks and design of the Azimut 80, which has proved incredibly popular with international buyers this season. The new flybridge yacht was launched in June and will make its debut at the 2014 September and October boat shows.

The Azimut 50 boasts an enormous 17.5 square metre flybridge, making it one of the largest in its category and providing exceptional outdoor space for owners and their guests.

The yacht, designed by Stefano Righini, also features design concepts such as a one-way mirrored glass window on the deckhouse, an impressively sized bow area and Azimut’s classic vertical windows in the hull.

Its interior, designed by Carlo Galeazzi, includes a sizeable cockpit, a spacious saloon, a dining area complete with a relaxation area, a galley below decks and a lobby leading to the cabins. There is space for a full-beam owner’s cabin located amidships, as well as a VIP cabin towards the bow and a third cabin that comes complete with two pullman beds.
